Nyesom Wike, the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, has stated he will not hinder the Rivers State House of Assembly from executing its constitutional responsibilities. Wike, who previously served as the governor of Rivers State, has claimed that he predicted the ongoing political turmoil and had advised the current Governor, Siminalayi Fubara, on how to address it.

Despite this counsel, Governor Fubara reportedly chose a different approach, opting to surround himself with a different circle of advisors. The situation has raised concerns about the governance and political stability within Rivers State.
