Abuja police have successfully rescued a Burkina Faso national, Sambo Labibo, from a kidnap syndicate operating out of the Durumi Internally Displaced Persons (IDP) camp. Labibo was abducted on March 14, 2025, with his kidnappers demanding a ransom of ₦15 million. The Federal Capital Territory Police Command conducted the operation to secure his release, highlighting the ongoing issue of criminal activities within IDP camps in the region.

The case underscores the challenges law enforcement faces in managing security and protecting vulnerable populations within these camps. Such incidents point to the urgent need for increased vigilance and comprehensive security measures to prevent further criminal activities.
