An explosion at the Karu Bridge in Abuja resulted in the deaths of six individuals and the burning of fourteen vehicles, authorities in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) confirmed. The incident, which occurred on Wednesday, involved a trailer losing control and colliding with a stationary vehicle caught in traffic. This collision led to a blaze that engulfed multiple vehicles.
Emergency services responded swiftly to the scene to manage the situation and rescue people from the burning wreckage. Despite their efforts, six individuals succumbed to injuries at the hospital, where their bodies have been deposited at Karu General Hospital Morgue. The authorities managed to contain the fire and restore normal traffic flow after the chaos.
Investigation Underway
The FCT Police Command has launched a comprehensive investigation to uncover the cause of the explosion and prevent similar incidents in the future. The police have expressed their condolences to the families of the victims.
