A human rights lawyer has issued a warning to the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, demanding action regarding the Directorate of Road Traffic Services, commonly known as VIO. This follows complaints about the agency’s continued presence and operations on FCT roads despite an existing court order prohibiting them from impounding vehicles and imposing fines.
Abubakar Marshal, the lawyer representing public interest, sent a letter with a seven-day ultimatum for compliance. The letter addresses the minister directly, calling for the immediate cessation of VIO activities in line with the court’s ruling.
Marshall’s communication reflects growing frustration among road users in the FCT regarding perceived overreach by the VIO.
