The House of Representatives Committee on Finance has put forward a proposal to exempt military personnel in Nigeria from paying personal income tax. This development emerged as part of the committee’s detailed review of four tax bills recently sent to the parliament by President Bola Tinubu.

The proposal, if implemented, would provide financial relief to military members by exempting them from the income tax obligations that apply to other citizens. This move aims to acknowledge the unique contributions and sacrifices made by military personnel across the country.
