Dangote Cement Plc has announced the appointment of Dr. Gbenga Fapohunda as the Group Financial Officer, effective from January 1, 2025. The announcement was made in a corporate filing with the Nigerian Exchange Ltd.
Dr. Fapohunda brings over 20 years of experience in finance, with expertise in various areas such as Financial Control, Risk Management, Treasury Management, Investment Management, Strategy Development, Corporate Governance, and Corporate Finance. His academic credentials include a Doctorate in Strategic Management from Rome Business School, an MBA in Finance from London Business School, and a B.Sc. in Accounting from the University of Lagos.
Professional Affiliations and Roles
He is a Fellow of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Nigeria and holds affiliations with multiple professional organizations such as the Institute of Credit and Risk Management. Dr. Fapohunda’s previous roles include executive finance positions at:
- Japan Tobacco International
- United Parcel Service
- British American Tobacco
Additionally, he built a foundational career in financial advisory at PwC and Assurance at KPMG Professional Services.
