Residents of Ondo State took to the streets in protest on Wednesday, following the killing of local farmers, highlighting growing concerns over security in the area. The protests come amid a political clash between the All Progressives Congress (APC) and the Peoples Democratic Party’s (PDP) governorship candidate for November 2024, Agboola Ajayi.

Ajayi criticized the state government for its handling of security issues, alleging negligence and inadequate response to the rising threats facing residents.

In response, the APC defended Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa’s administration, suggesting that the current government is taking necessary measures to address security challenges. The heightened tensions underscore the political stakes in Ondo State as both parties prepare for the upcoming gubernatorial election.

The protest and political discourse reflect broader concerns over safety and governance that are critical to the state’s citizens.
