The Federal Government of Nigeria, in partnership with various stakeholders, has initiated efforts to create a Just Transition Guideline aimed at steering the country toward an inclusive and equitable low-carbon economy. The initiative was launched during an inception workshop organized by the National Council on Climate Change Secretariat and the International Labour Organisation.

This strategic move is part of Nigeria’s commitment to reducing its carbon footprint while ensuring that the shift to a more sustainable economic model does not exacerbate existing social inequalities. The guideline will serve as a roadmap, outlining measures to achieve environmental goals in a manner that supports economic growth and social justice.
