Unity Bank Plc has named Ebenezer Kolawole as the Acting Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer following the retirement of Oluwatomi Somefun. The announcement was made during the bank’s 18th Annual General Meeting in Lagos and received the necessary approval from the Central Bank of Nigeria.

Kolawole brings over thirty years of experience in the financial services . His career began in 1992 at Caribbean Finance Limited in Kaduna. He has since held several significant positions in various financial institutions, including:

  • Ecobank
  • Standard Trust Bank
  • United Bank for Africa, where he served as Chief Financial Officer

Kolawole also contributed to the transformation initiatives at Mainstreet Bank and held corporate development roles at Globacom.

In 2015, Kolawole joined Unity Bank as Chief Financial Officer and was later appointed Executive Director, overseeing Finance, Operations, and Information Technology. His efforts have been instrumental in Unity Bank’s strategic transformation and market performance improvements.

Responsibilities as Acting MD/CEO

Kolawole is tasked with finalizing ongoing corporate programs and advancing strategic business initiatives during his tenure as Acting MD/CEO.
