In the last six months, 5,255 Nigerians have been beneficiaries of the Emergency Medical Treatment (EMT) services provided under the Basic Health Care Provision Fund (BHCPF), as stated by the National Emergency Medical Service and Ambulance System (NEMSAS). This information was shared in Abuja by the National Programme Manager, Dr. Saidu Dumbulwa, during the 10th meeting of the Ministerial Oversight Committee for BHCPF.
The EMT gateway fund is part of a national initiative aimed at providing prompt medical attention to Nigerians in emergencies, especially to those who may not easily have access to immediate healthcare services. The fund forms a critical component of the BHCPF, designed to improve the quality and accessibility of medical services across Nigeria.

This development underscores a strategic effort to enhance emergency healthcare delivery in the country, addressing the urgent medical needs of citizens and ensuring that healthcare services are more evenly distributed. Through the EMT gateway fund, NEMSAS aims to strengthen the national healthcare system by offering life-saving interventions to those in critical need.
