A minor fire incident at the Port Harcourt Refining Company (PHRC) was promptly extinguished, and the facility remains operational, the Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPCL) reported on Wednesday. Contrary to initial reports of an explosion, NNPCL confirmed that the refinery continues to produce refined petroleum products without disruption.

The recent rehabilitation of the refinery has enabled full operations since November 2024. Meanwhile, NNPCL adjusted its petrol prices in February, reflecting a decrease from ₦945 to ₦860 in Lagos, following a reduction in the ex-depot price by Dangote Refinery. The company’s decision not to sell crude to Dangote Refinery in Naira remains in effect.
