UEFA has charged Rangers Football Club following an incident involving a “racist and/or discriminatory banner” displayed by fans during a recent Europa League match against Fenerbahce. The Scottish club has publicly expressed embarrassment over the incident, citing the banners that read, “Keep woke foreign ideologies out – defend Europe.”
In addition to this charge, Rangers are facing other penalties for the misconduct of their supporters, including:
- The throwing of objects
- Blocking passageways during the match
The club is actively working to identify those responsible and intends to enforce consequences.
Moreover, Rangers are addressing further issues stemming from two individuals using pyrotechnics after a league victory over Celtic. This incident may have future implications on ticket allocations. As Rangers advance to the Europa League quarter-finals, where they will meet Athletic Bilbao, the club is emphasizing a stance of inclusivity and condemning any discriminatory behavior among its supporters.
