Human rights lawyer, Femi Falana, has advised against an investigation by Nigerian security agencies into the attendance of Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan, a suspended Kogi Central Senator, at the Inter-Parliamentary Union (IPU) meeting in New York. Falana cautioned that such a probe could result in unnecessary embarrassment and controversy.

The concern arises following government consideration to examine how Akpoti-Uduaghan managed to participate in the event despite her suspension. The call for restraint is directed towards the Department of State Services (DSS) and the National Intelligence Agency (NIA), urging them to avoid actions that may lead to public disapproval.

The situation remains a contentious issue as different opinions surface regarding the legitimacy of Akpoti-Uduaghan’s presence at the international assembly.
