The Catholic Diocese of Auchi in Edo State has expressed strong criticism of local security agencies for their handling of kidnapping cases, following the tragic death of 21-year-old seminarian Andrew Peter. The Edo State Police Command confirmed the incident and also reported the successful rescue of Rev. Fr. Philip Ekweli, who was kidnapped alongside Peter. This development highlights persistent challenges faced by law enforcement in addressing the increasing incidents of kidnapping in the area.
