In a series of operations aimed at curbing smuggling activities, the Nigerian Navy’s Forward Operating Base in Badagry has seized 13,800 litres of petrol and 71 bags of foreign rice. The seizures occurred during patrols along the creeks of Badagry, an area often plagued by smuggling due to its strategic location near the international border.
The operations are part of ongoing efforts by the Nigerian Navy to clamp down on the illegal importation and distribution of goods, which pose economic and security challenges to the region. The confiscated goods were being smuggled into the country, bypassing legal channels and contributing to the black market presence in the area.
This move by the Nigerian Navy is expected to deter smugglers who exploit coastal and creek routes to evade customs and border regulations, thereby supporting the enforcement of local trade laws and protecting the economy.
