The reinstatement of Alhaji Muhammadu Sanusi II as the Emir of Kano has been halted by the Court of Appeal in Abuja. A panel composed of three justices, led by Justice Okon Abang, issued a unanimous decision on Friday to suspend the enforcement of a previous judgment. This earlier decision, dated January 10, had overturned the nullification of Sanusi II’s appointment as Emir by a Kano State High Court.

The appeal court’s decision effectively pauses any progress towards Sanusi II reclaiming his traditional role until further legal proceedings determine the outcome.
